Overview
My role represented the Cultural Resources, Partnerships, and Science Directorate as a Management Assistant to the Associate Director (AD). Work specifically related to a variety of topics and initiatives for the National Parks system and cultural resources programs. I served as a Project Manager on two projects that were in partnership with the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO). Additionally, I served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) assignee to multiple interdisciplinary, cross-directorate work groups for the AD. This included providing technical input related to cultural resources management and the National Historic Preservation Act; specifically the Section 106 review process. I also worked closely with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation National Park Service liaison to analyze current Section 106 operations and to develop proposals for improved process efficiency for the National Parks agency wide. I would comment as assigned on design that had the potential to affect historic properties, and regularly contributed to, developed, and edited agency-wide guidance and processes pertaining to historic preservation, facilities management, and resource management. Additionally, I was an Instructor teaching Historic Preservation Fundamentals as part of the Preservation in Practice Program; a program for design students from Historically Black College and Universities, carried out at the the Western Center for Historic Preservation located in Grand Tetons National Park.
