Overview

Member of a traveling preservation crew working from coast to coast on historic buildings and structures. Work included stone and brick masonry, rough carpentry, making and working with adobe building components, roofing, seismic retrofitting historic structures, identification, collection, and documentation for material sampling. After two years I was promoted from Maintenance Mechanic to Exhibits Specialist and my duties remained the same but now included on-site project and crew management and all project documentation from budget to Record of Treatment.

These duties and accomplishments introduced me to a wide array of historic structures, resource types, parks, and personnel, and laid the foundation of my career providing me with a ground up understanding of the issues we face at parks regarding deferred maintenance and cultural resources management, and specifically historic preservation.
